EDM news portal DJ MAG Germany and MAUSIO are launching the #spreadlove campaign and will set a sign, backed by the German music industry, against hate and cyber-mobbing online.
Almost everyone has experienced it at some point: a hate comment in the mostly uninhibited by anonymity social networks, a hurtful message or so-called trolls. But what is usually dismissed lightheartedly or as a trifle, sometimes leads to moments of shock, uncertainty or even depression among those affected. A problem, that carries itself by all layers of the society.
DJ MAG Germany and MAUSIO want to draw attention to the devastating effect of anonymous hate comments and call for the spread of positivity. Following the motto: #SpreadLove, the initiators call out to leave at least one positive comment on social media every day.
"Every piece of my art is made of many thoughts, emotions and often months of work. Such a comment may sometimes not to be meant so badly, but makes us doubt ourselves and feel bad. Hate and insults on the internet are not right towards anyone. These people don't see that there is a real person behind the social media account. I have experienced this as an artist just because I have not met very personal expectations of a few people regarding my music. This is a completely one-sided view of the situation, in which the wishes, visions and inspirations of creative people are completely disregarded. My music always reflects a part of my personality and emotional state." – MAUSIO
Music video and song for the campaign
MAUSIO, who has contributed the campaign soundtrack “Spread Love” in collaboration with Bibiane Z, has also written the music video for the song.
The plot: An Internet troll accidently gets the chance to see the stylized depiction of a music production and learns, how much work artists spend to create music. Impressed by his experience, he writes what is probably his first positive comment ever, at the end of the video.
"Sad events often make us painfully aware of how closely the internet world is connected to the real world. We are very happy that with MAUSIO we have found an artist who puts his huge talent into this campaign and works together with us on our goal: More positive comments in social media. We now hope that many fans, content creators, artists and events will join our initiative." - Arian Amedie, Managing Director DJ MAG Germany
